ARTIST STATEMENT

ENG
In my artistic practice, I expand photography beyond its two-dimensional image surface into space — towards sculpture and installation. I am interested in transitions: between image and object, body and material, visibility and sensation. In my work, photographs become spatially present, physically perceivable objects whose materiality forms an integral part of their meaning. I work with everyday materials such as textiles, PVC, silicone, and wax, as well as commonplace objects charged through their social and cultural contexts. Through processes involving heat, pressure, and chemical reactions, I transform these materials — allowing them to deform, liquefy, harden — in order to merge media, meanings, and substances. Transformation thus becomes both an aesthetic and political principle. My reflective approach questions the perception of photography as a medium, as well as the artistic, social, and cultural engagement with the physical reality of its existence. I examine my photographic sculptures through the notions of image-body and image-space, their relationship to the viewer, and their sculptural potential in dialogue with everyday objects. In my practice, I consider photographs not merely as images, but as objects, emphasizing the significance of their materiality for interpretation and use. I employ photography as a spatial and sculptural medium, distancing it from a purely representational or documentary function. The photograph is no longer understood as a document, but as material for the creation of sculptures and installations. Images therefore operate not only through their visual content, but also as material agents that can assume central roles within social and cultural structures. From this engagement emerges a fundamental question: can we understand the photograph not only as an image, but also as an object — a physical reality that may possess dimensionality, density, texture, and volume? In short, as something that can also be approached as sculpture, thereby redefining the relationship between viewer and work. It is no longer solely about seeing, but also about sensing. About touching with the eyes. About an experience grounded not only in vision, but in the full range of physical and psychological sensations activated by the sculptural dispositif of the work.Central themes in my work are identity, corporeality, and gender within the tension of social norms. I understand my sculptural photographs as fragile counter-spaces that do not merely depict intimacy, care, and ambiguity, but embody them. From a queer perspective, I approach photography not as a means of representation, but as an echo and trace of shared experience — shaped by rupture, belonging, and resistance. For me, the photographic process is dialogical: the camera is not an observer, but an empathetic companion. In this way, the works make relationships visible — between bodies, materials, and social inscriptions. My works situate themselves between post-digital image culture, installation-based spatial strategies, and queer politics of the body. Rather than seeking fixed truths, they open spaces of possibility: vulnerable, breathing, transformative objects resisting normative orders.
